Harland & Wolff

A fine mahogany four door breakfront bookcase the upper section having decorative glazing bars and inlaid with sea shells, the base with marquetry panels and inset with brass letter box for posting at sea. The bookcase came from the first class library on board the White Star Liner RMS Celtic which ran aground at the entrance to Cork harbour on the 10th December 1928. The liner and its fine furniture was built by Harland & Wolff, Belfast and launched in 1901.   ( Width 9ft 7ins  Height 8ft 9ins approx). This lot also includes nine original dummy book stops.
